National Christian Teachers Summit, 2018.

Day 2 – 3rd August 2018

Morning Devotion

Psa 78:1-10

The solution to the decay we’re experiencing in our society is in the hands of the teachers. There is a cry – a cry from the children, from the streets, from the society, from the nation at large and most importantly from the heavens. To whom is this cry? It is to the teacher!

The children are crying – Who will save us? Who will mould me for my destiny? Who will set me on course for the future for which I was born? This is the cry and it is indeed for teachers. Will you arise to this call?

Teachers have a crucial role to play in the revival we are praying for. As we stand in the classroom, we stand on God’s behalf to cause a revival in that place.

Psa 78:8  And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not steadfast with God.

May we not be a generation whose heart is not prepared. May we be a generation, a set of teachers whose heart has been helped, so we can bring help to the young ones under our care. Many hearts of teachers have been light. They have carried ‘burdens’, however, it has been the burdens for material things and physical success. May God raise us as teachers whose hearts are set aright, on the Lord. Hearts who are burdened by the kingdom business.

The kind of teachers that will handle the misbehavior in the education system are those whose spirits are steadfast in the Lord. Not just any casual teacher can achieve anything of the kingdom. It takes a teacher who has set his spirit, steadfast with the Lord.

Psa 78:9  The children of Ephraim, being armed, and carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle.

The children of Ephraim though armed, turned back in the day of battle! How are you a teacher turning back in the day of battle? When the wrong things are happening, when examination malpractice is taking place, are you turning your back? Are you keeping quiet as though nothing is happening? Are you a teacher, armed with God’s word and God’s favor and then you arrive on the day of battle where you should have stood and faced the corruption, then you turned your back? May God help you to arise from this meeting and stand for the Lord in the day of your own battle!

Psa 78:10  They kept not the covenant of God, and refused to walk in his law;

These men kept not the covenant of God. They refused to walk in his law. They walked their own way and refused the covenant of the Lord. The first covenant with God is that of giving your heart to him – are you a teacher and have broken that covenant? How many covenants of the Lord have you broken? God has come to you this morning so you could restore your covenant with God.
